Just Around The Corner ? Mrs. Darsie's Menagerie

Looking at the calendar, I?m still in shock. ?I?m due in roughly two weeks, and I still can?t believe it. ?I mean, don?t get me wrong. ?I am SO ready for the baby to be born. ?I keep saying, ?Get this child out of me! ?We?re both running out of room.? ?But in truth, I also can?t wait to meet Zoe, to hold her and shower her with love.

And love is something that Zoe will never be short of. ?Earlier in the month, my family in the 49th VA threw us a baby shower at the re-enactment for Manassas. ?I wish that I could have shown up in proper attire, but sadly, nothing fits at this point. ?I wonder why? :-)

A yummy cake

Zoe?s first re-enactment dress

?

She also received her first re-enactment cup (engraved,) cloth diapers, felted booties (with spinning fiber for Mommy!), another dress to wear when she?s older, adorable modern baby clothes, an antique rattle, and a hand-made baby quilt. ?These ladies are amazing, and I am so lucky to have them in my life. ?Zoe is going to look so cute decked out in all her Victorian-esq finery.

We also had a few games to play, which were a blast. ?There was the ?measure the belly game?, dropping wooden clothes pins into a cup, ?Who Am I?, and another game to which I?ll just call ?Guess That Poo?.

The ?Who Am I? game was a blast, trying to figure out the name on the card that was in your hand (that you can not look at, but only identify with clues from the other players.) ?Remember that scene in the movie ?Inglorious Bastards? where they are in the basement bar? ?Yes, that game. ?Minus the guns.

Georgia (in the middle) guesses right.

?

Linda, the Brave!

?

So, obviously that is not REAL poo. ?It is melted candy bar, and the object of the game was to guess the right candy bar that had been squished on the cloth. ?I thought it was hilarious and I have to save this one for any future baby showers that I may have to help plan.

I have a ton of wonderful photos from that day, courtesy?of Brad (our group photographer.) ?John and I had a blast and we can?t thank everyone enough!

A few weekends ago, we had yet another shower. ?This one is the big one for family and close friends, that my mother had been planning for months. ?It was so very lovely, and we had a blast! ?It was good to see family, and friends that I haven?t seen in a while. And a big thank you to LaMisha, for taking these wonderful photos! ?I have so many more to which I can?t wait to see, but I wanted to share a few of them here.

Tory, Corey, and Me

?

The adorable top of the cake (and totally edible!)

?

We received so many things, that I must confess ? I was a bit overwhelmed. ?I?m glad that I had Tory writing everything down for me. ?Diapers, clothing, baby bath items ?. so much cuteness!!! ?Not to mention the glider/rockers with ottoman and a Moses basket. ?I?m telling you, the only thing that I really need now is the baby! :-)

Putting my feet up

?

I think it is safe to say that, at this point, we are as ready as we?ll ever be. ?I know that I?m ready to have this baby, now I just need to get her on track!

?

My favorite photo, thus far. Me and my Mom.
